Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. On the web version of Cropsicles we primarily use localStorage (a browser storage mechanism similar to cookies) to save your session and game preferences. This policy covers both cookies and localStorage usage on cropsicles.com.

2. What We Store

NameTypePurposeDuration
cropsicles_tokenlocalStorageAuthentication token -- keeps you signed in30 days
cropsicles_playerlocalStorageProfile and progress cache -- avoids re-fetching on load30 days
cropsicles_cookie_consentlocalStorageRemembers your cookie choice so we don't ask againPersistent

Three items. All strictly essential for the Game to function and remember your choice.

3. What We Don't Use

We do not use:

- Third-party cookies of any kind
- Google Analytics or any analytics cookies
- Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, or any advertising/marketing cookies
- Tracking pixels or web beacons
- Browser fingerprinting
- Cross-site or cross-app tracking
- Retargeting or remarketing cookies
- Social media cookies or embeds

We believe in privacy by design. If we don't need it, we don't collect it.

4. Strictly Essential Only

Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), Regulation 6(4), strictly necessary cookies/storage are exempt from the consent requirement. The items we store fall under this exemption -- without the authentication token the Game cannot keep you signed in. We show a brief consent notice so you are informed, but there is nothing optional or non-essential to opt out of.

5. Mobile Apps

The Cropsicles mobile apps (iOS and Android) do not use browser cookies. They store your progress locally on your device and, if you sign in, sync it to your account. The app stores may set their own identifiers for purchases and delivery, governed by Apple's and Google's own policies.

6. Payment Processing

If you make a purchase, the app store or payment processor may set their own cookies or identifiers during checkout. These are governed by their own policies and are not controlled by us.

7. Managing Your Storage

On the web you can clear localStorage at any time through your browser's developer tools (usually F12 > Application > Local Storage) or your browser's "Clear site data" settings. Clearing it will sign you out. On mobile you can clear the app's data through your device settings. You can inspect exactly what is stored at any time -- there are no hidden values.
